    The Bilingual Authorization in Spanish is an added authorization that prepares candidates to teach in bilingual, dual-immersion, and dual language classrooms. It can be added onto a candidate's preliminary or clear Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist teaching credential or combined with an M.A. in Teaching. Candidates take three online courses focused on understanding the sociocultural contexts of multilingualism in Latinx communities and developing and applying pedagogical practices that support students' language, literacy, and content learning in Spanish and English. Candidates must take a placement exam to demonstrate Spanish proficiency prior to enrolling in the program.
